I still have my nan’s wedding album from back in the day.
And every single photo is seriously serious. Serious faces, looking seriously at the camera.
Every single photo. Except one…
My nan’s standing outside the church in her wedding dress; sun on her face, confetti in her hair. And as she’s trying her best to look serious, a cat walks in front of her.
And she is laughing. Head back, mouth open, eyes dancing, laughing.
She left us recently, my nan. And I love that that’s how we get to remember her. Sun on her face, confetti in her hair. Eyes dancing as she laughs at a cat.
And for me, that’s how wedding photos should be. Everyone you love- happy, together, all there in one place.
They don’t belong on the cloud, and they’re not just for you. They’re things to be held, valued, and passed down. They’re people, and stories, and memories kept safe.
